  • Hi Bad Love Experience, can you introduce yourself?

Hello, we are 4 guys from Livorno, a small town situated on the west coast of Italy.
In this occasion we are a band who have just released his third album called “Pacifico”.

  • How did you meet each other?

We met each other many years ago, during the school days, we were at the same school and we were searching for something more interesting than studying to do together, so we decided to start a band.

  • Is Bad Love Experience the result of real bad love experiences ?

Probably it is, i can’t remember now.
Everyone has his good and bad love experiences to tell and to forget.

  • In your last album, you have 4 parts of a same song « The kids have lost the war » surroundign the rest of the album. What brought you to this artistic choice?

“The kids have lost the war” is the story of a journey like the whole album is.
It’s composed of 4 movements.
Simply, in the beginning the song should invite you to leave your certainties apart and start tripping into the Pacifico village till you lose yourself and find a new “light” in the end. Beetwen the 4 parts there is the story of our lives in the last 3 years.

  • What does personally evoke the name of your album « Pacifico » ?

Pacifico is the village we created and discovered at the same time. It pictures our feelings and our wishes, it talks about our dreams while describing our fears. It’s a place where a long journey starts and the place we need to return to.

  • On « Pacifico » you used no less than thirty various instruments. How did you deal with such a challenge ?

We’ve always been into big and deep arrangements. During Pacifico recordings we were in the hands of two amazing producers, Ivan Antonio Rossi and Justin Perkins, so we felt free to experiment a lot of sounds and instruments, being quite sure of their skill to put everything in its right place. We played a lot of uncommon instruments and also called many great friends to play their own. We’re very satisfied with the final product, and that’s also thanx to all of them.

  • The atmospheres are very different on this album, which is sometimes quite folk, sometimes quite Britpop, sometimes indie pop. What were your influences on this record?

We like to call this album “the journey of four different people, going to the same place”. It’s a mixture of what we are and what we like, sometimes it’s similar one to another and sometimes is completely different. What matters is the result.
Musically speaking we listened to tons of albums, from Beach Boys to Brian Wilson’s solo stuff, from Love to the very early american indie scene like Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control. We really like also many contemporary bands like Grizzly Bear or Fleet Foxes and recently we felt also into electronics and 70’s funky grooves!

  • For your previous album « Rainy Days », you went on a European tour. It was in 2009. Do you plan to repeat the experience with this new album?

In 2009, we played a lot, both in our homecountry and in Europe. We went on a two-week run to Saint Petersburg and Moscow and played at the magnificent Cavern Club in Liverpool…we hope we can do something similar quite soon.
In 2007, we went to France too, it would be great to come there again!

  • I want to talk a bit about the wonderful illustrations of your album. What can you tell me about your collaboration with its author, Sanya Glisic?

Sanya is a Bosnian illustrator living in Boston, US. We discovered her works surfing the net and immediately felt in love with them. The 3rd millennium technologies did the rest;   we wrote her and sent our songs and lyrics. The illustrations represent what she felt and saw into them. We found the work she did on our album a great piece of art and now it’s really hard for us to imagine Pacifico without her drawings.

  • Your album was released this monday at the European level, what are the early feedbacks that you have heard about this record?

Immediately after the release we received a lot of positive feedbacks and really good reviews. It is very important for us, singing in english, to find out that our work is appreciated also outside Italy. Our first aim as musicians is to cross the borders and take our music into different countries, to different people.

  • Do you already think about the next album?

We were thinking about our next album the day after we finished recording this one.
By the moment we’re quite busy taking our live show around, but I think we’ll start writing something new soon. We easily get bored!
As I said, we’re starting gettin’ into eletronics and funky grooves, so maybe the next album will be a great surprise, for us as for everyone!
